. I plan to show my students how to use Moodle during the first week of the semester as part of regular instruction. (I absolutely L-O-V-E-D that I was given time to work on this and have it count as one of my projects. It will be nice to know that my students and parents finally have an accessible resource they can go to to learn more about my classroom. While it (my webpage) still is and will continue to be a work in progress, knowing that I now have my webpage up and running has taken a load off my shoulders, so to speak. And, I'm looking forward to adding to my page as the school year progresses. I know there is more I can do to improve upon it, but I feel as though I am off to a good start.)
Project #2- Reading and Writing Surveys on Moodle Page (see lesson plan for Project #1). I created two surveys required of ALL of my students to help me better understand their concerns and interests in reading and the writing process. This in-class assignment will be part of a mini-Moodle unit. Students will be required to complete both surveys during the first week of school. Plus, it will act as a resource in helping me select materials I can incorporate into my classroom. I am thrilled I finally learned how to do this! :) Project #3 - Class Discussion Board (see Moodle page -
). This assignment will be used as part of a mini-Moodle unit (see project 1) as well as for on-going assignmnents throughout the semester which relate to the various LFS units being taught. For example, in Romeo and Juliet, I implement several writing prompts as homework which ask for student opinions in relation to the tragedy. By having students complete the prompts via the class discussion board, it allows for more interaction amongst the students (and reduces the use and cost of paper/copying). I am really looking forward to implementing a class discussion board this year.
